Martin Stošek takes 3rd place at the Dolomiti Superbike

Last Saturday belonged to other race in Italy. The 28th edition of the Dolomiti Superbike marathon took place in Villabassa and Martin Stošek scored a great result, taking 3rd place in the 123 km long race.

The men's race started at 7:30 a.m. The Dolomiti Superbike is one of the most demanding marathon in the world with an elavation of 3,400 meters. Martin was not afraid of anything and guarded the front of the race from the start. He also managed the final sprint, in which he took 3rd place.

"The race was good, I'm glad I'm doing well here. The third start and the third time I'm on the podium. I kept riding in the front from the beginning and waited to see what would happen on the last hill. In the middle Paez attacked overwhelmingly and we stayed in two but then he increased the speed a little bit and when it was too much for me, he attacked again.  Then Rabensteiner with Samparisi and Rosa caught up with me. I put myself in a good position for the sprint and Fabian beat me by just a bit. The performance was good, I trained a lot, I've been in hard training for two weeks," said Martin, who went to Livigno the next day, where he will attend a training camp to prepare for the World Championships, which takes place in Glasgow, Scotland.

Final sprint

Stefanie Dohrn finished 11th in the women's race, while Marc Stutzmann finished 18th. German champion Andreas Seewald, who is still medically indisposed, did not start but will soon return to the racing.
